What a very great description! You could probably describe the woman a bit more. Also, can you see the last sentence, 'Then there was a loud...'. Take out the 'Then'. It builds a tiny bit more suspense, in my opinion. Also take out the 'then' in the sentence 'Then he heard her stop...'. Other than that the whole opening is very excellent. There was a lot of suspense, and I mean a lot of suspense. It really made me scared for real. I'm not jokin. Well done, man.

Are you living in some sort of unit or apartment setting? If so, I would advise you to politely make your complaints known to the residents of the downstairs apartment. If they do not listen and continue to be disruptive, you have one of two options. Firstly, you can see if their noise is causing concern for any other neighbours, and if so, you could ask these neighbours how they would feel about making a complaint. Secondly, you could simply go to the housing body (most apartment dwellings have a body that will determine costs such as gardening, maintenance to driveways, fences etc.). If you decide to do this, write down what you have seen or heard in simple terms, so that it can be understood (I would also advise typing instead of handwriting as this looks neater) and lodge the complaint. If it continues, get the police involved. If their noise is continuing through out the night into ungodly hours at which you or your neighbours are asleep, you've got a right to do so. Best wishes.

Well, because they are. I live on an old farm in the Missouri Ozarks, about five miles outside of a town with a population of about 1,000 people. I hear coyotes in the timber every night. Sometimes I'll hear them howling three or four times in a single night, in different areas of the woods. I've taught my dog not to respond to them when she hears them, because many times, coyotes will lure domestic dogs into the woods, attack them, kill them, disembowel them, and then just leave them to rot. They don't even eat the dogs they kill, but dogs are seen by coyotes as competition, or as some kind of threat. Really weird, bizzare, freaky dream. i have had this dream several times?

Why does something as widely used as DISQUS have absolutly no user options?

Sometimes I comment on the web. Often, the program that handles these comments is DISQUS (affiliated with Yahoo?). It is garbage. I can't track answers to my comments, or even find out which comments people like. The only reason I can think of for its existence it that it data mines our comments and sells the information for dirt cheap. They are sure not spending money on developing even the most basic features for users. I am flabbergasted at how such a terrible program has become so widespread. It's so bad that it is an argument for regulation. If something this basic works so poorly for the end user -- something so simple, which should not require regulation if the online market even remotely resembled the pipe dream that telecommunications corps portray -- then things like net neutrality laws are a slam dunk. If anyone has any good reason why DISQUS is so widely used, even though it is such a poor program, please let me know. This actually goes for many programs (e.g. Oracle, who gets influential organizations to use their program and then hogs the market share with an inferior product). My fiances credit use to be 495. HORRIBLE all due to college debt. Hes made it go up to 580 in a short period of time by paying of his debt AND looking into HSBC bank credit cards. You put in two hundred dollars minimum and thats your "credit limit" you can put in more in the card to make it look like you have a larger limit. He put in 5000 and never really used the card. If he did he put the money back in. After 6 months to 8 months he applied to 2 more cards with actual limits, got approved and NEVER USED the cards. He also found an apartment complex who takes bad credit but reports on your credit and is never late on rent. He looks on paper like he makes his payments always on the past two years and has steady income with nothing in collections. He just got approved for a home loan with the help on the VA and that will help his score now too. It wont be a quick fix but you can repair it in 5 years or so. Sorry that it happened to you too.

I cannot say for certain that there is one true male image in the media. There seem to be several. In most rap music videos, we see the tough guy grilled-out thug who shows off his expensive purchases and taste. In those videos, women are usually clumped together with said purchases; much like a trophy. Then we have the younger generation coming in with their adorably hipster geeky-ness that seems to be winning over the "Twilight Generation." Something considerably different, that would not have been seen generations ago, is the dark and sulking men who write sappy lyrics that pull at your heartstrings while they slither slowly in front of the camera with pursed lips and their hands caressing their face so everyone can see how deep and tortured they are by their feelings. In today's sitcoms, the men are typically weakened by primitive male-dumbness and completely out of it. Their wives run the household and the kids walk all over them, which is as close to opposite as possible from the 50's sitcom dads. Meanwhile, you turn on MTV's Jersey Shore and the chauvinism and ism pouring out of the fist-pumping and overly manicured self-proclaimed "dudes" is enough to make any feminist gag. They use women, cheat on them and toss them to the side like its nothing...but the women do it too. I love all of it though. The diversity is the spice of life. We can't all be salt...that would be boring.

Are policies based on religion or idealism slowly dieing out? I remember in the early 90's when everyone was making a big deal about rap music and how it was being portrayed to children. Tupac even got sued by a city in Texas because his music supposedly "made people commit violent acts". Now that type of music is the norm and I think we are on are way to a much more liberal society. Look at marijuana for instance, it is becoming mainstream. If 20 or 30 years ago you said marijuana would be legal for medical purposes in over 15 states and certain states would be trying to legalize it people would of never believed that. I believe this all has to do with people learning that you can't force morals or ideals on people whether it's music they listen to, what they put in their bodies or how they live their life. Social conservatism does not work, telling people what to do based on a certain ideology is no way to run a society.

I'm not sure what 'working mouths' means. The world turning upside down happens too quickly too. If they're being attacked by a sea monster, he could be slammed against the wall first and slide up, wondering what the hell's going on. It could use more details, little nooks and crannies like that will bring it to life more. Once the ship is righted, if he's in a room of prisoners who've experienced that too - they could also be reacting to it. Husband having an affair?

My Husband and I have been together for 5 years and married for 2. Throughout our whole relationship, we have never had any trust or jealousy issues. Sure enough, all of the times he was talking on the phone when he left the room or to go outside, they were with her. They also have been talking to and from work. What's there to talk about if they see each other everyday at the office? I did confront him about it and he instantly denied everything. He proceeded to tell me he was talking to her that much because her and her husband have been having marital issues (they have only been married a year). I asked him why he just didn't tell me, and he told me he didn't want me to get involved. I told him I was extremely uncomfortable with the situation and asked him to stop all communication (text and phone calls) with her and keep their relationship strictly work professional. I also asked him to call her while I was present so I could hear for myself. He immediately got irate and said I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. I did call her and left her a message, and calmly asked to end all communication with my husband because it has been affecting my marriage. That was all said and done...and he is not making phone calls to her anymore, but he is STILL taking his phone EVERYWHERE he goes; guarding it with his life. I keep checking the text messaging log on our account and the amount of text messages he has been sending and receiving is insane! The couple of times I have been able to check his phone (when he is asleep), he has deleted everything. I'm just in shock because he used to be a open book and would never delete anything. How can I get along with my parents?

Okay, first of all I'm the type of person who tries to love, but develops hate toward people very easily, and I feel like everybody in the world hates me. It's not my fault and I'm not that way by choice, it's just who I am. It's probably some sort of psycological disorder or something. Anyway, I'm 13 years old and I've lived with my parents my entire life. I mainly live with my mother because my father does demolition out of town. He comes home like once a month though. Now of course there are the little things that every mother does like making me brush my teeth and limiting my sugar conption, but I understand those things and I don't mind that she does them. However, she does certain things that I think most mothers shouldn't do. Whenever I do something wrong even by mistake, she yells at me, not to dicipline me, but out of pure anger. She takes out her frustration on me by shrieking at me in her awful voice. It's really damaged my nearves over the past 13 years. I also feel like she doesn't treat me like her child, but more like her husband or something. I don't feel her caring, loving vibe that I used to feel when I was little. I'm not even sure if she loves me anymore. I also think she sees me as nothing more than an annoyance. I don't think she sees me as her son, but more like a fly that won't leave, and all I do is annoy her. Not love, talk to, care about, or matter...just annoy. I'm afraid that's all she thinks I am. Very specific graphic problem with the Sims 3. Any solutions?

When I go to Create A Sim the specific sliders for facial features, muscle tone, etc. either have no effect on the Sim or cause parts to be distorted or completely disappear. Today I discovered that if I lock my computer (I have a notebook), then return to my account and wait for the Sims to pop up again, the problem is fixed. Usually, the game is rendered perfectly in Live Mode after this, but it sometimes reverts back right after leaving Create a Sim or when I press Pause. All of my system requirements match up except that I'm a little short on RAM, which I was told wouldn't be a huge problem, except that I couldn't play on a higher graphic setting, and my graphics card isn't one on the list, but could be considered somewhat equivalent. When I put in a ticket on the Sims 3 website, they said that my graphic card would render everything in the game except the Sims themselves, but if I can get it to render after locking, then could there possibly be a permanent way to keep the graphics nice and pretty? Perhaps I need to change a setting on my card?

If you mean someone you used to know like an ex friend, I've got to say, that's really sad. Friends don't do that to each other, even when you grow apart. I think you should confront the main problem. If you talk to the people who already believe her, they won't really listen to you. They'll say you're in denial and you're just trying to cover it up. Sometimes, you have to get to the main cause. You'd have to talk to her and she might not see reason, but I'd say that she's jealous. I'd get scared to do it alone (as would others,) so maybe keep a friend close, but it's most effective to talk to her yourself. Especially in a public place. If she chooses to do something physical, then the public can see what she's truly like (and that's usually only when they're out of options and taunts). If she argues, then stay calm. Listen to what she says, then when she's done, you'll need to talk her into reason. The people around you might jibe you to start a fight, but you have to ignore them. The key usually is to stay level headed and think quickly, but don't hit anyone.

Are you living in some sort of unit or apartment setting? If so, I would advise you to politely make your complaints known to the residents of the downstairs apartment. Firstly, you can see if their noise is causing concern for any other neighbours, and if so, you could ask these neighbours how they would feel about making a complaint. Is this extract from my novel interesting?

I actually found it confusing and hard work to read. It is a riot scene with no hint of what the characters are like. What is an "intimidation school foyer" or do you mean 'intimidating?' There is no description of place or any characters and far too much is going on at the same time. I have seen a few fights in my time but this seemed to be rather over the top and not very realistic. Also I found the names you use rather hard work and difficult to remember. I know that is probably the names that the young have nowadays but it is still confusing. Okay, I bought a GSD about5 or 6 months ago... when he was 8 wks old. I don't know the breeder, but I somehow found him. He had a boy GSD. Supposedlym his father was a champion showdog and mother was a farmdog from chile. So I umed the pup would be one of the best temperaments. I bought him for $500. I thought it was a steal. Hi guys, I have a really sticky situation, and I ask that you give your honest opinion but spare the judgment. I don't need to hear how I shouldn't be drinking/partying. Alright, so I am a freshman in college. Before this happened I was a virgin, shy, not promiscuous whatsoever. So one night I had a little too much to drink, to the point of blackout since I don't remember much. I was with my best friend pan he was ready to leave an he noticed I was too drunk so he took me home. Well all I remember is I'm dancing with my friend Dan (whom I know very well and trust) and then I remember sitting on the floor in a room, almost crying (because I get emotional sometimes when I'm drunk for no reason) and some guy asking me to do ual favors to me (not ) and for some reason I followed? I'm so stupid I know. I guess when I'm drunk I need attention and like to feel wanted. But it does not mean (at all) that I was willing to do anything. Next thing I remember I'm on a bed.. and throwing up into a trash can next to the bed. All i remember next is some guy trying to do something to me but for some reason but I kept saying no im on my period, ( I remembered I had a tampon in and was embarred) . He was trying to take my pants off and said he wanted to, excuse my language, eat me out, but I said I was on my period and did not want it at all. I didn't even know where I was or who I was with. I was throwing up for gods sake. Ive never been this drunk before, I was blacked out for sure. So finally I wake up in the morning, and notice some guy trying to touch me but I move away to the edge of the bed, and curl up in a ball. Once I start to become more aware and wake up, I notice I'm in a room Ive never been in before. And freak out, I ask the guy where my pants were because I wasn't wearing my jeans I was wearing some shorts, and he tries to look for it but I'm so distressed I leave and forget it and my debit card and other sandal. I felt so disgusted. I was so confused I didn't know what happened that night, I go into the bathroom and take out the tampon (sorry for the details) and feel alot of pain. I didn't whether I had sex or not, I was still drunk when I walked back to my building. finally I ask my friends to go ask the guy what happened. and he confirmed there was sex. Opinions please? Stop worrying about it so much. Errors will be made, but it's how you deal with them that matter the most. If you screw up a step as soon as you can, just get back into the next step and forget it happened until you are done. The more you dance the better you will get and it's not something that happens overnight for anyone. Practice slowly in front of a mirror, it might help.

I get the impression that most people posting on here are extremely young, unestablished in their careers and from a lower socioeconomic background (aka they have no money/savings to speak of). Strange animal noises in my woods lastnight.?

I live in Eastern Berks Co. in Pennsylvania , Lastnight i was sitting watchingt v and i heard something walking in the woods..was very loud..i went out to look nothing around about 15 min later i heard it again but this time it was in front of my house...my house is surrounded by woods...again i went out and seen or heard nothing..so 15-20 min later i heard this not a screech but a loud noise..so i turned the tv down and heard it again...was a shriek but not an owl i have owls here i know what they sound like..but this made like a high pitched yell then followed by a very low pitched yell...this went on for 3-4 minutes...my dog just sat staring into the woods and growled but didnt go after whatever it was..it stopped and about 2 min later u could hear it walking away...so it wasnt a bird of any sort...and i dont know of any animals in this area that make this noise...any ideas of what it may have been or anyone know of a site that has noises of animals here in eastern PA i can compare it to...ty for ur help

Did you vet give you any treatment for the meantime? Hopefully they told you to keep her on strict cage rest--many cases of spinal cord compression (that comes from a disc bulging or rupturing, and soft tissue swelling) may improve and even return to normal with cage rest and anti-inflammatory therapy. However is it important that right now in the early stages that they provide something for inflammation, and that you keep her exercise strictly restricted to a cage and only going out on a leash to go to the bathroom, unless you can be *right there* with her and make sure she is being quiet. This could last for weeks, even months, but usually you will start seeing gradual improvement. You may be able to do some physical exercises like moving her hind legs to keep the muscles working and prevent atrophy. Hopefully that helps and hopefully your vet can give you some more info tomorrow. You definitely need to make sure your pup can pee, and that her bladder isn't getting huge (a lot of time they will just dribble constantly with a smaller bladder--so you need to keep her clean and dry), and that she can eat and drink ok.
